Meet Cody Jordan, former Lego enthusiast and current intern with P&C Construction.
Cody is currently hard at work on the Sabin-Schellenberg Professional Technical Center’s North Campus (Sabin). The project includes major renovations, seismic upgrades, fire sprinkler upgrades, technology upgrades, building modernization and roof replacements. “My site is at an interesting phase,” Cody says. “One building is just about complete and the other two are still in progress. So, there are a lot of different things all happening at once.” With a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn, Cody spends his time onsite working alongside the project team updating drawings, creating RFI’s, uploading pre-task plans, documenting the site, and liaising with subcontractors.
Though this is Cody’s first summer with P&C Construction, he’s no stranger to the industry. In spring of 2021 he will graduate from Oregon State University with a degree in Construction Engineering Management, having switched from his original major in Civil Engineering. When we asked him what made him switch, he said, “I originally wanted to design things like bridges and high-rise buildings. But after visiting actual construction sites, I immediately changed my mind. I realized that I didn’t just want to design those structures, I wanted to build them too.”
After graduation next spring, Cody plans to return to OSU to get his master’s degree in corporate finance or business analytics. His advice for future interns is, “Get out of the trailer as often as possible. Walk your job site and don’t be afraid to ask questions.”
