Jackson Armory

This design-build project for the Oregon Military Department (OMD) includes a complete renovation of the existing 39,000 sf armory building in North Portland.

Beginning in the late 1800’s, armories were constructed throughout the United States to provide a protected location where local militia could gather and train, as well as store their arms and ammunition. While modern armories are still a place for training and material storage for assigned military units (in this case the Army National Guard, A-Battery and C-Battery of the 2/218th Field Artillery and C-Troop 1/82nd CAV), they’re also used as emergency response centers. Jackson Armory, specifically, has also been host to various events, shows, meetings, conferences and fairs.

Expected scope of work includes code compliance, selective demolition, seismic upgrades, SEED requirements, green energy initiatives, various interior finishes, HVAC upgrades and a reconfiguration of the administration and classroom spaces. With substantial completion set for late 2023, P&C is proud to once again partner with BBL Architects to provide OMD with a highly functional facility designed to be safe, flexible, cost-effective and energy efficient.
